How to Use Pinterest

Pinterest is a new social networking site. Started in early 2010, they are growing rapidly. If you want to use Pinterest, now is the time. In this article I will show you how to use Pinterest.

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. You create pinboards, much like a corkboard you might have in your kitchen or office and pin images you find of interest around the internet on your boards. You can create boards of different themes and pin images on them according to the topic or theme you created. When someone clicks on your pin they are taken to the website where the pin originated from.

Pinterest Home Page – New Look

If you would like to sign up for Pinterest, visit http://pinterest.com and click on Join Pinterest. A sign up (create account) screen will appear. On this page you will have three different sign up options. You can sign up with either Facebook or Twitter, or you can use your Email address to sign up.

When you use your email address to sign up with, you will be taken to a new page where you will have to fill in some details to create your Pinterest account.

Fill in your Username, Email and Password, and your First and Last Name. Select your Gender and Country and Upload an Image. When you are finished filling in all of your details, click on Create Account.

When you set up your profile don’t forget to add your website URL, a brief description of yourself or your business and an image.

Because of Copyright laws, you should add the Pin It Button to your browser’s toolbar. That way when you pin images they are automatically linked back to the site they originated from. You can also add a button to your website so your visitors can follow you on Pinterest.
